According to the latest numbers from NASS, Idaho’s potato crop this year is forecast at 135 million cwt, down 6% from last year.  Harvested area, at 314,500 acres, is down 15,000 acres from 2023.  Yield is expected to be 430 cwt per acre, down 5 cwt from 2023.

 

Potato production in Oregon is forecast at 26.3 million cwt, down 2% year-over-year.  Harvested area, at 42,000 acres, is down 1,000 acres from 2023. Yield is expected to be 625 cwt per acre, up 5 cwt from 2023.

 

Washington’s potato crop is forecast at 99.7 million cwt, down 4% from 2023’s numbers.  Harvested area, at 154,500 acres, is down 10,000 acres from 2023. Yield is expected to be 645 cwt per acre up 15 cwt per acre from the previous year.

 

When it comes to sugarbeets, Oregon’s crop is expected to be 417,000 tons this year, up 7% from last season.  Harvested area, at 10,400 acres, is down 300 acres from 2023. Yield is expected to be 40.1 tons per acre, up 3.7 tons from the previous year.

 

Sugarbeet production in Idaho is forecast at 6.71 million tons, down 4% year-over-year.  Harvested area, at 169,000 acres, is down 5,000 acres from 2023. Yield is expected to be 39.7 tons per acre, down 0.3 ton from 2023

 

While Washington’s sugarbeet crop is forecast at 94,000 tons, down 5% from last year.  Harvested area is estimated at 1,900 acres, down 100 acres from 2023. Yield is expected to be 49.4 tons per acre, down 0.3 ton from 2023.

 

Meanwhile, the Northwest corn crop is expected to be larger this year.  Idaho's crop is forecast at 25.9 million bushels, up 11% from last year.  Harvested area, at 125,000 acres, is up 10,000 acres from 2023.  Yield is expected to be 207 bushels per acre, up 4 bushels from 2023. And Washington's corn for grain production crop is forecast at 20.9 million bushels, up 16% from last year. Harvested area, at 89,000 acres, is up 14,000 acres from 2023. Yield is expected to be 235 bushels per acre, down 5% from the previous year.
