Ranchers and those that work on cattle operations across the Northwest will have an opportunity to improve their roping skills during a workshop this weekend.  Chris Schachtschneider with OSU Extension said the two day even will take place at the Pendleton Round-Up Grounds.  He said they will cover a variety of topics.

“Safety for all animals involved, so people, horses, and cattle.  Horsemanship because you have to have a horse that’s working for you before you can be successful at roping.  Stockmanship, because the stockmanship components are going to enable you to be more successful when you throw that rope.  And finally roping so that once you do throw a rope and catch something everything else is in place to be successful.”

What will make this weekend a success for Schachtschneider?

“People with another insight and prospective on how these jobs can be complete.”

There will be one and two person events Saturday and Sunday.  Visit OSU's Extension Website to register, and to learn how you can save $100 on this weekend’s workshop.
