
Oregon Specialty Crop Block Grant Winners Announced
The Oregon Department of Agriculture and USDA have announced this year’s recipients of the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program funds. Nearly $2 million will fund 13 projects across Oregon, in an effort to boost the competitiveness of the state’s fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, nursery crops, and other specialty crops.
"Oregon's agricultural sector thrives on specialty crops, such as the luscious, buttery hazelnuts, colorful ornamental plants, and the exceptional wine grapes that create our award-winning wines," shares ODA Director Lisa Charpilloz Hanson. "This grant program is a fantastic financial resource that bolsters food production and nurtures horticultural growth throughout our beautiful state, fostering sustainable and innovative agricultural practices for the future. Together, we can continue to enhance the economic value and diversity of Oregon's farming landscape."
These Funds Highlight The Diversity In Oregon Ag
The 2025 funded projects involve a diverse range of crops and span a wide geographic area of Oregon’s agricultural production. Some of this year's recipients include Oregon State University, Oregon Farm to School Network and Community Development Corporation of Oregon. Oregon ranks in the top ten in the nation for the production of specialty crops. Over the past ten years, Oregon has received close to $20 million in funding from the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program. Those grants have focused on a variety of topics important to the state's farming community, including::

- On Farm Labor Needs
- CrossCommodity Collaboration
- Food Safety Compliance and Traceability
- Addressing Regulatory Burden
- Productivity Enhancements, Innovation, and Value-Added Products
