November Meat Projections Show Little Change
When compared to USDA reports released in September, meat production and prices decreased, for the most part. World Agricultural Outlook Board Chair Mark Jekanowski, however, said there were some notable exceptions.
“Slaughter rates have been very strong recently, so we raised our broiler production forecast by 40 million pounds for 2025 and expect that strength to continue into 2026, where we raised our forecast by 70 million pounds," he noted. "Hog prices, we expect to see some strengthening prices next year given the lower production that we're anticipating relative to where we were in September. So, we raised our pork price forecast by a dollar per hundredweight for 2026.”
U.S. meat trade, meanwhile, is highlighted by higher export forecast for broilers for this year and next.
“A little bit higher broiler exports given the increased supplies we're forecasting," Jekanowski said.
