Assistance Available For Producers Impacted By Wildfire, Drought

Oregon farmers, ranchers and forest landowners impacted by drought and wildfire may have several USDA assistance programs available to help recover losses.

For crops, orchards and nurseries, the Tree Assistance Program can help with replanting or rehabilitating damaged trees, vines and nursery stock. Crop insurance and the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program may also provide support. FSA offers emergency and operating loans, while the Emergency Conservation Program can help with debris removal, fence repairs and livestock water systems.

For livestock producers, programs can help with grazing losses, livestock deaths, feed, transportation and water hauling.

And forest landowners may qualify for restoration assistance, while NRCS can provide technical help and funding for drought resilience.

USDA encourages affected farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners to contact their local USDA Service Center as soon as possible to report losses and learn about available assistance options. Producers can also use OSU emergency service computers located in all OSU Extension offices to file FSA claims if needed.
