National Wheat Crop Down 25% Year-Over-Year

Not a big surprise, the national wheat crop is struggling, according to the latest USDA crop production report.

 

The report said all wheat production remains down, now at a 25% year-over-year reduction, with winter wheat production forecasted to be 29% lower than 2025. Spring wheat production is expected to be lower from last year by 5%.

 

Other highlights from Wednesday’s report include:  

  • The second largest corn crop in U.S. history if forecasts are realized, that despite a 6% year-over-year production decline 
  • A forecasted 6% increase in soybean production this season 
  • Cotton production is forecasted down 2% year-over-year
