While export volume was down slightly in June, the U.S. Meat Export Federation said U.S. beef reached the highest value in nearly two years.  Dan Halstrom, USMEF President and CEO said exports totaled $938 million in June, which was up 3% from a pretty big number from a year ago.

I look at individual countries and one that stands out that that's really welcome to see now two months in a row is Japan. Japan was up 8% on volume and up 9% on value $182 million. Month and considering all the headwinds that Japan has had the last year or so, it's really encouraging to see this rebound."

While the figures were down a little bit, Halstrom said Mexico was also a highlight in June.

“As you know, year to date, Mexico is up 13% on volume, 19% on value. So, Mexico for the year through six months, two quarters is looking pretty strong.”

Halstrom added June pork exports were down 9% from 2023 and the lowest level since September.  Pork export value fell 5% to $659.7 million.
