The second week in August has been a cool one across much of the inland northwest, with temperatures well below average for this time of year.  But according to National Weather Service meteorologist Dennis Hull that cool weather comes to an end this weekend.

“We’re going to be well above normal, we’re probably going to be 10 degrees above normal for Friday and Saturday, so we’re going to be 95-100 degrees on those days there.”

Hull said the sudden swing up in temperatures could bring on some heat stress for livestock at area fairs.  So those participating in the fair need to have fans, misters and plenty of drinking water, for both the animals and yourself.  Hull said what make this week’s weather so unique, is how drastically the temperatures will move in a short amount of time.

“To be 10-15 degrees below normal like we were on Monday and Tuesday and then to go you know, 10 degrees above normal especially this time of year.  During the wintertime, you know, we can get those big wide swings but in the summertime that usually doesn’t happen.”

Hull said with the increase in temperatures, the region will see a drop in the likelihood of rain showers.
