USMEF: Beef Export Momentum Continues in July
According to data from the USDA, American beef exports continued building momentum in July. Beef exports that month were up 7% from a year ago and the second largest of 2024. U.S. Meat Export Federation President and CEO Dan Halstrom said they are very encouraged by what they are seeing.
“With about 110,000 metric tons globally exported, that's up 7% and the value even more impressive at 910,000,000 that’s 12% growth," Halstrom noted. "Mexico continues to be very strong, but for the first time in quite a while, we've seen a bit of a spark out of Asia led by both Taiwan and Japan. So, considering the headwinds. On exchange rate with in the case of Japan in particular, and to see growth of 14% year on year at 22,000 tons and 17% growth on value $175,000,000 into Japan. To me this is very encouraging.”
From January through July, value of beef exports increased 6% from 2023 numbers, despite a 2% drop in volume.
