The lengthy government shut down is over but it is causing delays in the release of statistics from the census of agriculture which is held once every five years.  Joe Parsons, Ag Statistics board chairman said they were scheduled to release the Census number on February 21st, but they will delay that release.

"And we will be providing updated information about when we will be releasing the census of agriculture so i hope folks will look forward to that."

Parson noted it is important that his staff takes the time necessary to give the data the proper attention.

"They'll be a lot of products from the agriculture census and it really serves as a baseline you know down to the county level it illustrates the changing structure of US Agriculture across time so you know it's something that has a good long shelf life so we want to make sure we put out the very best product possible," Parsons added.
