Oregon State Police are asking for your help identifying the person who has been illegally taking wild steelhead from the North Umpqua River at John P. Amacher Park in Douglas County.  OSP investigators said a father and son were found in the Amacher Park parking lot on Thursday May 8th.  A wild steelhead was later found stashed in bushes where one of the individuals had been fishing.  The individuals were not positively identified during the contact and fled the scene before the steelhead was found.

Investigators said the suspects were driving a gray or silver SUV, similar to a Toyota Highlander.  OSP says the suspects may be from the Springfield area and sometimes fish the Dollar Hole on the Main Umpqua.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIP hotline at 800-452-7888 or contact Senior Trooper Kyle Bachmeier through OSP’s Southern Command Center at 800-442-2068 or *OSP (*677).  Please reference case number SP25-152261.  Callers can remain anonymous.
