Sheep producers from across the United States will be in Roseburg, OR this weekend for the 2025 U.S. Sheep Shearing Championships.  Preliminary events will kick off Friday June 6th at 11 a.m. in the River Arena at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.  Participants will compete in blade shearing, wool handling, and conventional shearing.  There will be beginner, intermediate and open classes.  Competitors will be attempting to qualify for the Golden Shears International Competition.

 

Douglas County has a rich history of shearers that have competed at the national level, and Douglas County sheep produce coarse wool that is mostly used for bedding.
