Oregon State Police Looking For Fish Thieves
Oregon State Police are searching for two men who reportedly vandalized a cellular trail camera and illegally took salmon in Jackson County. Investigators said the fish were stolen from a fish trap at the Cole Rivers Fish Hatchery in the town of Trail, roughly 25 miles north of Medford.
Trail cameras caught the suspects at the hatchery August 12th, 2024, returning about two weeks later wearing motorcycle helmets. They entered the stream and appeared to try to spear salmon.
The Suspects Returned Nearly A Year Later
Then, just a month ago, two masked men matching the description of the suspects from a year ago were seen again, this time with a black German Shepherd. One waded across the river and ripped the antenna off the camera.
The next day, troopers found the lock to the fish trap cut and an unknown number of salmon taken. Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact OSP's Turn In Poachers (TIP) line at (800) 452-7888, *OSP (*677) from a mobile phone, or email TIP@osp.oregon.gov.
OSP asks you please reference case number #SP25-355670 when submitting information.
