Pastures Continue to Dry Out Across the Northwest, Nation
It should come as no surprise that pasture and rangelands continue to deteriorate across the U.S. Brad Rippey, meteorologist with the USDA said very-poor to poor ratings are greater than the national average of 31% in nine of the 11 western states.
“Some of our lowest pasture conditions are being observed in the Northwest, both Washington and Oregon coming in this week at 49%, very-poor to poor,” Rippey said.
And completing the hat trick, 38% of Idaho’s pasture and rangelands are considered very-poor to poor.
The National Weather Service is calling for thunderstorms to roll into the Northwest this weekend, but at this point, it doesn't look like much rain will be associated with these storms.
