As Sugarbeet harvest continues locally and nationally, USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey noted the past seven days were good for growers, especially in the Red River Valley of North Dakota.

“We did see a really nice jump of 23% points during the week, seeing that overall sugar beet harvest passing the halfway mark to reach 55% by October 18th, just two points behind the five-year average of 57%," Rippey said.  "And while we see modest delays in harvest in Idaho and Michigan, it has been a very good period for progress, especially in North Dakota.”

As of Sunday, October 18th, 42% of Idaho’s sugarbeet crop had been harvested, which is slightly behind the five-year average of 44%.
