USDA’s pasture report says there should be a lot of smiling faces across the Inland Northwest.

Meteorologist Brad Rippey said, “80 percent of the pasture and rangeland rated good to excellent in a large number of states stretching from the Northwest to the Northern Mid-Atlantic region. That does include Washington and Oregon.”

The report released this week was the first look at the pasture and rangeland conditions for 2017.

In addition to the pasture ratings, Rippey has more good news.

“Pretty incredible topsoil moisture ratings for this time of the year.”

A little more than a quarter of U.S. states are seeing surplus topsoil moisture.
