This spring, Oregon State University will offer an on-line course, Principles of Vineyard Management. OSU Viticulture Extension Specialist, Patty Skinkis, said the course will cover establishing, designing, implementing and managing a vineyard. She noted while the course will have a focus toward commercial production, current professionals or the general public are welcome to participate.

"We try to take broad strokes through vineyard management and of course there's nuances that are different for each specific location, but it's been really relevant for a pretty wide transect of people who are interested in establishing vineyards.”

Classes start March 30th and will run Tuesday and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Skinkis said while conduction the class on-line will present challenges, it offers some benefits, such as the opportunity to ask specific questions during the session, or later via e-mail.

"There's a response and there's someone actively teaching the class during the term, so I only have the course running during that time so that I can have that interaction.”

The on-line course runs from late March into early June. Registration closes March 29th. Visit OSU's Website to learn more or to register.
