On Wednesday, Representative Dan Newhouse meet with leaders from Washington State University including President Kirk Schulz, College of Ag Dean Andre Wright and WSDA Director Derek Sandison.  Newhouse said they discussed the importance of research done at WSU and other land grant universities.

“It really keeps agriculture on the cutting edge of emerging technologies and allows the agricultural industry to remain as competitive as possible.”

Newhouse added they also discussed the proposal to increase USDA’s research presence on the Pullman campus.

Newhouse noted the day was capped off with a demonstration of Washington Ag in the House of Representatives Building.

“Many products from the state of Washington were available for people to sample of some of the fruits and cheeses and different beverages that we produce in the state of Washington, and I thought it was a great way to showcase the products were capable of producing in Washington,” Newhouse continued.
