New System To Bring Cooler Weather, Chance of Showers

The weather for the Inland Northwest has been right on schedule for this time of year, with temperatures hovering around their averages for the middle portion of August.  But, Dennis Hull with the National Weather Service told the Washington Ag Network says that will change slightly in the coming days.  Hull said we’ll see winds pick up Wednesday evening, which should blow much of the smoke out of our area.

“Might even see some showers off to the South East over the Blue Mountains as some moisture shouts out ahead of this front.  But otherwise we’re looking for another dry week.”

Hull said those dry conditions will benefit potato and onion as well as wheat growers.  Hull quickly noted that the cooler weather won’t last past the weekend.

“We’re looking for the heat to build again in the early part of next week, so much above normal returns.  The crop water use over the past seven days and then these next seven days, it’s going to be between an 1.25” and 2”, except a little bit higher for hops.”
