Family forest owners and managers across central and eastern Washington are encouraged to learn how to manage and protect their woodlands during a June 21st field day.  Washington State University Extension’s Forest and Range Owners Field Day will run from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Leavitt Family property in Cle Elum.  The Leavitt Family is recognized as experts in forest management, wildlife habitat and other land stewardships disciplines.

“Our field day rotates regularly around the region, so landowners in Chelan, Kittitas and Yakima counties should not miss this chance to better understand and protect their properties alongside professional foresters,” said Joshua Cardin, WSU Extension Forestry Program Coordinator for eastern Washington. “Whether your forest is only five acres, or 500, we’ve designed this program to meet your needs.”

This Month's Field Day Has Something For Everyone In The Family

Field day instructors teach landowners to plan and execute management activities that meet personal objectives, reduce risks and protect their financial investment.  There will be a variety of classes and activities taught by specialists during the field day.  Presenters will be available to answer questions specific to an owner’s property situation. Participants can sign up for a free walk in the woods with a forester, wildlife biologist, or both. Youth activities will be available all day.

Registration is $30 per person, or $40 per family.
