Growers Turn Out For 108th Lind Field Day
Growers, researcher and industry professionals turned out in good numbers for Thursday’s Lind Field Day at Washington State University’s Dryland Research Station. Station Director Dr. Surendra Singh was very happy with the turnout.
“I saw a lot of first time attendees today as well, who are currently in undergrads in different schools across the country and now coming back thinking of farming," Singh noted. "So, a lot of them were accompanying their fathers, so it's good to see that next generation of farmers are also interested in the research we do and more so than like saving their resources for the following generation. So, it's good to see that we are continuing that pace set up by our forefathers.”

In addition to inspecting plots and field trials, attendees learned the latest in no-till, winter wheat breeding, fungicide efficacy in winter peas and much more.
After lunch Thursday updates and speeches were provided by Dr. Raj Khosla Cashup Davis Family Endowed Dean of WSU’s College of Ag, State Senator Mark Schoesler, and Gil Crosby President of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers and others.

Now that the Field Day has come and gone, does that mean Singh and his staff can take a break?
“Obviously a little bit relaxed [Friday], but no, I don't think we get tomorrow off. And our year mostly goes from field day to field day. So tomorrow the clock starts 365, 364, 363. So like until next field day. So that's the plan.”
The 109th Lind Field Day will take place June 2027.
