
CBD Wants A National Gray Wolf Plan
Earlier this week, the Center for Biological Diversity announced its plans to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service if a national gray wolf recovery plan is not developed. In the December 2nd notice, the Center said the agency’s failure to develop a nationwide recovery plan for the gray wolf violates the ESA and Administrative Procedures Act.
Based on a USFW status review from 2020, where wolves are endangered or threatened, the Service said “we find that a recovery plan for the listed gray wolf entities would not promote their conservation because listing is no longer appropriate under the ESA.

The gray wolf is listed as endangered in 44 states, including Oregon and Washington and is listed as threatened in Minnesota. The wolf has been delisted in the Northern Rocky Mountains, which includes Idaho.
