
Increase Reported In Washington Sales Barns
When it comes to the local, weekly livestock markets, on Friday the 14th, the Washington sale barns had over 2,200 head of cattle traded. When compared to a week earlier, stocker and feeder cattle were steady.
“Feeder cattle futures saw $1.40-$3.52 losses across most contracts," noted Greg Sanders with USDA's Livestock, Grain and Poultry Market News in Moses Lake, WA. "The CME feeder cattle index was back up $3.44 on August 12 to $351.93. Slaughter cows were weak to $6 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. A major packing company has stated it is seeking the sale of its Pasco cattle operations. Feeder steers, medium-large frame 1 and 2s, 600-650 pounds sold for $3.45 and 650-700 pounds sold from $3.40-$3.56. Feeder heifers medium large frame 1 and 2, 600-650 sold from $3.40-$3.82 and 650-700 pounds sold from $3.29-$3.34. Slaughter cows on the boning utility sold from $1.75-$1.80.50 and slaughter bulls grades 1 and 2 sold from $228.50-$238.50. Bred cows on a per head basis that were four to six months bred weighing 1,053 brought $3,100 per head.”
