Agriculture Ministers Meeting in Paris

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack is meeting with agriculture ministers and officials from 45 countries in Paris this week as part of an Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, or OCED, summit.

Vilsack hopes to push for agriculture that feeds more people in a more sustainable way.

“It’s about making sure that not only are there adequate crops being raised but that they actually get to the people that are in need of them. That there are transportation systems, regulatory systems that provide and enable people to get the food they need to sustain themselves.”

Vilsack noted that food instability often leads to political unrest saying providing adequate for the world will increase security.
