USDA Looks To Improve Electricity Reliability In Rural America

USDA is making $410 million available to help strengthen the nation's rural electric grid.

The USDA's Rural Utilities Service says the new Powering Affordable Reliable Technology, or PART, Program will provide partially forgivable loans for projects that expand electricity generation from hydro, geothermal and biomass sources, while also supporting energy storage systems to improve grid reliability.

“This new opportunity advances President Trump’s priorities to strengthen America’s energy infrastructure and lower costs for American families,” said Rural Utilities Service Administrator Karl Elmshaeuser. “Guided by the President’s executive orders to bring back energy dominance and strength, we’re working to ensure our grid is resilient in the face of growing demand.”

Individual awards will range from $1-$100 million.  Letters of Interest will be accepted September 8th through October 9th.  For more information on the PART Program, visit the Rural Development's Website.
