16M+ Boxes Shipped As Cherry Season Heads Into The Home Stretch

The local cherry season is in the final weeks, but growers say there's still plenty of great fruit to enjoy before harvest ends. Year to date, just under 16.1 million 20-pound boxes have been shipped this season.

Northwest Cherries said while supplies are becoming more limited, dark sweet cherries continue to offer excellent size, flavor, and quality. The organization said this year's Rainier cherry crop was much smaller than normal, with about 1.1 million [15-pound] boxes shipped; down from 2.3 million last year after wind and rain damaged the crop.
