WWI Offering A Host Of Scholarships

The Washington Wine Industry Foundation announced this week that more than $30,000 in scholarships will be available for students studying viticulture, enology, or any related disciplines. The application deadline is May 31^st, 2021.

This year's scholarships include:

Foundation Fund Scholarship These scholarships range from $2,000 to $10,000 with the number determined annually based on merit and number of applicants who qualify.

Horse Heaven Hills Wine Growers Scholarship Two scholarships of $3,000 with preference to students who reside in Benton, Yakima, or Klickitat counties and whose parents are employed in the Washington wine industry. Growers and vintners in the Horse Heaven Hills created the scholarship to promote education in grape growing and wine production.

Walter J. Clore Scholarship Established by the Washington Winegrowers Association to honor Dr. Walter Clore’s lifetime achievements in viticulture and enology. WSU’s Clore is known as the “Father of Washington Wine”. The number of awards is determined annually with scholarships starting at $1,000 each.

George & Susan Carter Scholarship: Established in honor of WSU researcher and winemaker George Carter and his wife, Susan. This scholarship help students of limited means attain degrees in viticulture and enology. The scholarship is auto-renewing, worth $1,000, and goes to one student for up to four years.

The Foundation manages scholarships, funds and grants, while developing resources in support sustainable solutions to the wine industry's challenges. Since 2002, the Foundation has awarded more than $350,000 to more than 220 students for education in the grape and wine industry.
