The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office is warning livestock owners to keep an eye on their water tanks.  The UCSO put out the urgent warning earlier this week, after ranchers along Highway 204 in the Weston area reported float being taken off water tanks, as well as valves being shut off.  Deputies said this has led to dead or dehydrated cows.  And with temperatures expected to climb above 100 degrees over the next couple of days, this could result in additional livestock losses.

Livestock owners are encouraged to check their water sources immediately and regularly.  And if you come across suspicious activity around your water, you are asked to contact your local non-emergency dispatch line.  In Umatilla County, the UCSO is asking the public to report any suspicious activity to our 24 hour dispatch center at 541-966-3651.
