Suntado “Great For the Idaho Dairy Industry”
Earlier this year, a unique milk processing facility opened its doors east of Twin Falls. Suntado is a 190,000 square-foot “state of the art” facility that will process, initially, between 800,000 and one million pounds of milk per day. And when completely on-line, it’s expected to process up to three million pounds per day.
Rick Naerebout, CEO of the Idaho Dairymen’s Association, said this projects is very exciting, not just for the southern part of the state, but for all of Idaho.
“This is dairymen reinvesting in the community in vertically integrating their business. So, you've got that reinvestment into the rural community there in Burley and you've got dairymen taking that next step in their business growth and vertically integrating. There's just a lot of a lot of great pieces to that project.”
Suntado will process Class 1 and Class 2 milk. With over 650,000 dairy cows across the state, Idaho currently ranks #3 in the nation in total milk production.
