Sugarbeet Harvest Under Way, Crop Looks “Phenomenal”
Harvest is starting for the Northwest sugarbeet industry. Samantha Parrott executive Director of the Snake River Sugarbeet Growers Association, says this year’s crop is looking “phenomenal”.
“I think we're going to have really great yields," she said. "Our tonnage in sugar is looking really good so far. So, growers should be very happy with such a great crop. However, the price of sugar right now is not great. And so that has been very disappointing. I know farmers are really struggling right now, most commodities are down. So, it's just a really tough economic time right now for our farmers.”
Remember To Share The Roads
And as harvest continues in the weeks ahead.
“Please be patient on the roadways," Parrott added. "We've got lots of trucks going. And again, these trucks are, they're on the road because they're producing your food. So just be patient with those folks.
