Steer Prices Expected To Move Up
Increase in every type of meat product. That's what's in store for next year. U.S. Agriculture analysts say there will be more beef, pork, chicken and turkey produced...creating competition between meats. Ag Outlook Board Chairman Seth Meyer said beef producers may come out OK in this competition, at least if current trends continue.
"Beef demand has really become quite solid. Good beef demand. It seems to be shrugging off the competition in growth in production of other meats and prices seem to be holding in there."
In fact, hog and broiler prices are expected to drop next year, but for steer prices,
"Actually show strength and increase into 2019 adding a couple of bucks to 117.75 a hundred weight."
Or about a one and a .5% price increase even with a 2.25% hike in beef production.
