Snow Expected Over The Next Week

To say snow showers hit the Northwest over the weekend, may be an understatement.  Portions of the region continue to dig out after anywhere from 10”-15” fell over the weekend.  Marilyn Lohmann with the National Weather Service says it’s still too early to tell but this could be a record February across the Inland Northwest.

“Just totaling up the amount of snow that’s fallen this month, we’re already setting record territories for the Pendleton area, Yakima and Kennewick, both for the month and I hate to say it but there’s more to come, so it does seem like we will continue on a record  setting streak for this February.”

Lohmann noted that North Central Washington has not seen nearly the amounts of snow this month.

She adds a ridge of high pressure in the Pacific is pushing storms up into the Gulf of Alaska, down into western Canada and then on top of us.

“It does look like we’re going to see more systems that come through this week, with some breaks in between hopefully, and then again on our into next week.  The pattern continues quite active.”
