Small Improvements Reported In Drought Conditions

Recent snow and rain showers have helped improve the drought situation across the Northwest.  According to the latest figures from USDA, 24% of Oregon is in an Extreme Drought, an improvement from the 36% reported just a week ago.  Meanwhile over 80% of the Beaver state is under a Severe Drought (D2) designation, a six percent drop from this time last week.  The entire state is under some level of drought designation.

Meanwhile in Washington, the area designated Severe Drought has dropped to less than 0.2%.  Slightly more than 30% of the state is under the Moderate Drought (D1) designation; primarily in the southern portion of the state and North Central Washington.  Thanks to recent weather systems, over 23% of Washington is drought free.
