Rippey Winter Wheat Plantings Slightly Ahead Of 2023
We may have just wrapped up the 2024 winter wheat harvest, but it’s already time to look ahead to 2025, as planting has begun across the country. USDA meteorologist Brad Rippey looked at planting numbers from last week.
“Showing 2% of the intended acreage planted on that date," Rippey noted. "Right now par with the five-year average and one point ahead of what we saw in 2023.”
Rippey added planting progress was reported in eight of the 18 reporting states.
“Although in four of them, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska and Oregon, that progress is just 1%," Rippey said. "For the four states that are ahead of that pace is the progress topping the list, Washington state 22% of the intended acreage planted five-year average, 15%. Other states above 1% planted include Colorado at 7%, South Dakota, 5% in Idaho at 4%.”
