Oregon Ag Community Encouraged To Get Out And Vote

Ballots for the Mid-term election are due in Washington and Oregon by Tuesday evening.  The local Ag community is being reminded the importance of their vote especially in local races.  Jerome Rosa, Executive Director of the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association says farmers need to be well informed and exercise their right to vote.  He said many in small communities don’t feel like their voice is heard, but he points to Oregon’s Governors race eight years ago where the rural vote had a big impact on the outcome.

“A few years ago [2010] Chris Dudley could have won the gubernatorial race if the rural community particularly eastern Oregon had came out and voted for him.  And that was the difference in the race.”

Rosa said voters will also face issues on grocery taxes, the House seats and several key local races.
