Researchers have come together in an effort to improve fire blight disease management.  Washington State University announced the research team Tuesday, which includes plant pathologists, horticulturists, and economists.  The goal is to develop region-specific and sustainable best management potions for blossom blight and shoot blight; as well sat the overall economic impact of the diseases.  The team is trying to apply for a USDA Specialty Crops Research Initiative.

To help, researchers are asking growers to take a Survey describing the current fire blight issues.  The survey is anonymous.

The team consists of:

  • George Sundin, Michigan State University
  • Jim Adaskaveg, University of California-Riverside
  • Tianna Dupont, Washington State University
  • Awais Khan, Cornell University
  • Karina Gallardo, Washington State University
  • Frank Zhao, University of Illinois
