The Risk Management Agency is informing producers across Washington, Oregon and Idaho of a new insurance plan option for Triticale.  The USDA’s Jo Lynne Seufer todl the Washington Ag Network over recent years, they’ve heard more and more farmers requesting coverage for the hybrid between wheat and rye.

“The program provides coverage for damage resulting in a naturally occurring event, so natural disasters.  And it is a similar product to our other individual yield based inductance plans.”

The sales closing date for the new insurance is September 30th.  Contact your local RMA office to learn more or to apply for coverage.

Triticale insurance is available for the 2018 crop year in:

Oregon: Gilliam, Wallowa, Wasco, Sherman counties

Washington: Adams, Benton, Douglas, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Lincoln, Klickitat, Okanogan, Walla Walla, Whitman and Yakima counties
