The USDA is highlighting increased risk management options for beginning farmers and ranchers.  USDA Farm Production and Conservation Under Secretary Richard Fordyce said these are available thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.

“Better coverage percentage for their guarantees and lower premiums for having that new and beginning farmer designation," Fordyce noted.  "Another thing was extended the time period that they qualified for some of these benefits from Being a new and beginning farmer from five years to 10 years.”

Fordyce added more affordable coverage options within the federal crop insurance system are also available to new as well as longtime farmers.

“The offerings, the percentage guarantees, the ability to buy up that additional coverage for not much more premium,” Fordyce said.

And in turn, he adds, gives Ag Risk Management customers better guarantees and coverage and lower premiums.
