
Rollins Announces Plans To Purchase Specialty Crops
Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins provided updates to federal farm safety net programs while speaking at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Annual Convention in southern California.
“Starting today, dairy producers across the country will be able to sign up for more affordable and robust coverage under the Enhanced Dairy Margin Coverage Program," the Secretary said. "[In addition] USDA is adding up to 30 million new acres to the ARC and the PLC programs.”
Base acres within the agricultural revenue coverage and price loss coverage safety net programs. Rollins also focused on specialty crops while in Anaheim.
“The USDA is announcing we will purchase another additional $80 million in U.S.-grown commodities to provide nutrition assistance to communities across the country," Rollins said. "The department will buy almonds, grape juice, pistachios, and raisins.”
