The 44th annual Hemiston Farm Fair kicked off Wednesday at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center.  The three day event not only showcase vendors from across the region, but also includes seminars and classes offered by Oregon State University.  Debbie Pedro with the Hermison Chamber of Commerce said the Farm Fair has come a long way in four decades.

“You know it realty has grown over the years, starting from a meager just a meeting and a dinner to what we have today with vendors.  And we get to showcase a lot of the produce that is produced here.”

Pedro added that Agriculture is the backbone of the city of Hermiston, as well as northeast Oregon.

“All of the business that are related to agriculture as well as the businesses that are not agriculture driven.  Still, those are your neighbors and your friends who are shopping in our local stores as well.  So, everything is connected to agriculture.”

Pedro was the guest on our #WhereAreWeWednesday segment on Facebook yesterday.

The Farm Fair runs through Friday.
