
FSA: Farm Loans Can Serve As A Disaster Tool
Producers may be familiar with USDA farm loans, a variety of direct and guaranteed loan products, but Farm Service Agency administrator Bill Beam said many farmers don’t realize these offerings also include.
“Operating and direct emergency farm loans to producers unable to secure financial or commercial financing.”
So, as he pointed out, in the event of emergency, whether from a natural disaster or sudden financial hardship.
“Loans can help produce. Replace essential property purchase inputs like livestock, equipment feed and seed cover, family living expenses or refinance farm related debts and other needs," Beam said. "FSA has a variety of loan service options available for borrowers who are unable to make scheduled payments on their farm loan debt to the Farm Service Agency because of reasons beyond their control.”
