CRP Land Can Be Used To Help Producers Impacted By Wildfire

The Farm Service Agency is making Conservation Reserve Program acres available to help livestock producers impacted by wildfires across Oregon and Washington. FSA has authorized producers in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington to donate CRP haying or grazing rights to wildfire-affected livestock producers in Oregon and Washington.

The emergency haying and grazing authorization runs until the start of each state’s 2027 primary nesting season, with restrictions during those periods. Those dates are:

California: April 1 through July 1, 2027
Idaho: April 1 through Aug. 1, 2027
Nevada: May 1 through July 15, 2027
Oregon: March 1 through July 15, 2027
Washington: April 1 through July 1, 2027

Producers interested in donating haying or grazing rights should contact their local F-S-A office to determine eligibility, availability and stocking rates. FSA says non-emergency use provisions are also available in Washington during the primary nesting season, although a 25-percent rental-rate reduction applies.
