It’s a never-ending battle for cereal growers across the Pacific Northwest; weeds.

Corteva Agri Science said they, and local growers, are excited about Tolvera, which is in its second year of availability.  U.S. Crop Protection Technical Lead Eric Scherder said there were a host of reasons growers were drawn to Tolvera in 2025, and he’s confident that interest will continue this year.

“What they're really gravitating there is that group 27 different active HPPD in the marketplace," Scherder said.  "Bromoxynil gives you a great opportunity to reduce plant back. We start getting peas, lentils, some of the other commodities there, that we're trying to get as much ROI on that acre as we can. But they really like large broadleaf control as well as green and yellow foxtail control.”

Scherder said growers have reported amazing results in just one pass.  And while sometimes growers need to combine Tolvera to address challenging weeds, he noted its a great product that will benefit growers in this tight farm economy.

“But we can't let up on weed control," Scherder stressed.  "Because if you let up this year, that means you're just going to face more the year after that, the year after that, and the year after that. So that's the reason why we're really doing and seeing really good improvements out there.”
