Capital Call Vintners Acquires Barons Winery
Last week, Walla Walla-based Capital Call Vintners announced the acquisition of Barons Winery brand. The original partners, which founded the label in 1999, announced their retirement.
“When the Barons leadership decided it was time to retire, we jumped at the chance to acquire this highly regarded brand,” said Steve Bruere, a founding partner in Capital Call Vintners. “Barons has long history of producing excellent wine. We aspire to continue this incredible legacy of production and service under the Capital Call Vintners brand.”
To honor the Barons acquisition, Capital Call will produce two tribute bottles. The 2022 Barons Cabernet Sauvignon will be 95% Red Mountain fruit with 5% fruit from our estate Wheatfield Vines Vineyard. This bottle will bear the traditional and familiar Barons silk screen label. The 2022 Terra Barone Sangiovese, harvested from Wheatfield Vines Vineyard, captures the essence of farming, location, and tradition. This will be the first wine from the new Terre Barone label (Italian for “land baron”)
In addition, Capital Call announced plans to open a Walla Walla tasting room as well. Plans include rebranding the Barons tasting room located near the historic Marcus Whitman Hotel, under the Capital Call Vintners banner on October 5th.
