The Animal Agricultural Alliance is hosting a summit on how to build future leaders in the animal agriculture industry Thursday and Friday.

Communications Director Hannah Thompson says they wanted to focus on the idea of taking action and, “How can we give our attendees the tools, the ideas, the actionable ideas and takeaways that they can use immediately on their farms, in their businesses to really make a difference and move the needle for our industry, so out of that conversation came the theme ‘Securing Animal Agriculture’s Future; Action Please.’”

The two-day event will include a panel with three college students talking about the future of animal agriculture and how to help mold future industry leaders and problem solvers.

Thompson says they’ll also cover many of the other issues facing ranchers including antibiotics, consumer communication and more.

“We need the farmers and ranchers to get involved and be at these kinds of events. At the end of the day you are the people that we need to be getting out there, sharing your stories and communicating.”

The summit takes place in Arlington, VA, but Thursday will also be livestreamed on the Alliance’s YouTube site.
