
Blueberry Council Looks At The Fruit’s Economic Impact
July is National Blueberry Month. And the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council is highlighting the big economic this little fruit has nationally.
A New Report from USHBC says blueberries deliver nearly $9.1 billion in annual economic impact nationwide, supporting over 61,000 U.S. jobs. In addition, the blueberry industry generates $3.3 billion in annual labor income, as well as $277.9 million in indirect business taxes.
Blueberries are a top 20 commodity in Oregon with over 13,500 acres being grown. And with over 18-thousand acres across the state, blueberries are a top ten commodity in Washington.
