Northwest Lawmakers Advocate For The Blueberry Industry
Earlier this month, a host of Northwest lawmakers signed a letter written to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Grier, advocating for greater market access for the blueberry industry as trade negotiations with Asian countries continue.
The bipartisan, bicameral letter said, "we urge you to make blueberries, including frozen blueberries, a priority, during trade negotiations with Japan, Vietnam and South Korea." The lawmakers added as the administration continues to negotiate trade agreements, it is critical that both tariff and non-tariff trade barriers are addressed.
Those that signed the letter include Washington’ s Rick Larsen, Dan Newhouse, Kim Schrier, Suzan DelBene, Adam Smith, Patty Murray as well as Oregon’s Suzanne Bonamici and Val Hoyle.
