For a limited number of growers across Eastern Washington, WSU Extension is offering free soil health testing.  WSU said this will allow growers to see how their soils measure up when compared to similar soils across the region.  The test will evaluate several aspects of soil organic matter. To qualify for up to two free soil health tests per grower, soils must be producing either potatoes or onions.

To get this free testing, send your:

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Crops (potatoes or onions or both)
  • Mailing address

to Andrew McGuire, or send a text to 509-237-2115.

Growers will be selected for this free testing based on time of request, crop, and location. If selected, you will receive information on how to sample (it's easy, 0-6" depth) and where to send the soil samples.
