NE Washington Loggers Workshop Coming Up Fast
Washington State University Extension Forestry will host their 38th annual Loggers Workshop Monday in Colville.
“It basically is ensuring that these loggers are going out into your woods and they're keeping them healthy, productive, safe, and sustainable for future generations," noted WSU Forestry Extension Program Coordinator Joshua Cardin.
Cardin said Monday’s class is going to be jammed packed with the latest information for the forestry and timber sector.
“They're going to learn about what's happening in the woods, the technology that's coming, and how they can make sure that when they do these logging operations, that they're doing the safe and most sustainable practices," he said. "They're going to learn about online forest practice applications, which is a new program for the DNR that allows forest practice applications to be submitted on-line. They're going to learn a little bit about some game populations and health and how they can ensure to keep those populations steady when they do their logging operations. And they're going to get some updates from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative.”
Monday’s course runs from 8 am to 4:30 pm. at the WSU Stevens County Extension Forestry, 986 South Main, Ste. D, in Colville.
Cardin said participants can earn eight Accredited Logger and Society of American Foresters continuing education credits.
