Prepare For Whatever Mother Nature Throws At You in 2027
As we start to look at heading into 2027, will we see a Super El Nino? Will we see a regular El Nino? or will we have a typical winter?
For forecasters aren’t set on what they expect for next growing season.
But, if you grow here in the Northwest, you can expect hot days, irregular rainfall, and most likely wildfire smoke, that those last two can lead to prolonged canopy wetness creating ideal conditions for early blight and white mold, two of the potato industry’s most damaging diseases.
Erick Garcia with BASF notes as potato growers start to think about 2027, they need to think about how to address early blight and white mold early. And that, he said, is where Endura Pro fungicide comes in.
“This is a tool that was built specifically to combat diseases in potatoes, such as white mold, early blight, brown spot, or other diseases," Garcia said. "We launched this brand, Endura Pro, last year. So we're going into our second year here in 2026 and excited about this new innovation for potato growers, not only in the PNW, but across the nation.”
Garcia stressed that Endura Pro combines two active ingredients, meaning growers get the benefit of proven white mold performance, while also enjoying long lasting residual control. He added Endura Pro, and the other fungicides in the BASF toolbox are important to maximizing yield potential.
“Because at the end of the day, we're here about trying to maximize our yield," Garcia said. "We know there's a lot of challenges, right? Macroeconomic challenges that we can't control. But what we can control is what we're applying on our fields and make sure we're maximizing that crops yield potential.”
